  3. helping you tap into the gifts and plans God is birthing within you.

LET'S GET STARTED ON THE JOURNEY!

Question #1) Is Coaching The Same As Therapy?

 The short answer is NO, coaching and therapy are both "helping services"; but they are distinctly different activities.  


The focus in psychotherapy is more on healing from the past, while the focus in coaching is more on getting you to where  coaching is more focused on helping you achieve your future goals.  The Coaching Partnership is only appropriate for people who are in a mental and emotional state where the issues and traumas from the past have been dealt with correctly and they are able to focus on future goals.


If you are seeking help for a common mental health problem such as depression, anxiety or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), psychotherapy is the way to go.  As such, coaching services are typically not covered by health insurance because the focus of coaching is on personal growth not on treating an illness. 

Both therapists and  and life coaches enable individuals to make positive changes in their lives and become more productive, the two processes differ in their fundamental approach and outcomes. 

Question #2) What Does Coaching Look Like?

 Our Coaching Partnership  will span 3 to 6 months depending on the scope you your desired outcomes.  Coaching consists of  5 to 10 bi-weekly coaching sessions (1-hour each) plus access to my online tools and resources.   During each coaching session my key tasks are to :

  • Listen well.   
  • Ask questions  which will stimulate you to think creativity about current possibilities and the future realities.
  • Encourage you as we hold up your vision, your progress, and small victories.
  • Facilitate  your learning and problem solving. 
  • Stay future-oriented. My emphasis is to consistently direct us away from your history and toward new possibilities and outcomes.

                   

Question #3) What am I responsible for doing?

Coaching is about you– your goals, your learning, and your growth and your actions.  The 3 primary commitment for a coachee are:

  1.  As we begin the journey, you will take so time to identify 2-3 "life sized" goals you want to achieve or issues that you are ready to see transformed.  These will serve as the basis for our coaching sessions.
  2. Each session you will determine 2-3 S.M.A.R.T actions steps you will take toward your series before the next session. In between coaching session you will work diligently to complete the action items from the previous session. 
  3. Before each session, you'll summarize your progress and determine how you’d like to use our next coaching conversation (after all, we both want the capitalize on your investment of time and money!)
